CAESARIAN RECALL
As I laid me down to sleep
The night was suddenly alive
Figures leapt from the curtains
And danced before my eyes
I saw the moon float large as life
Right into my room
The air became heavy
My fingers like balloons.
My tongue filled my mouth
I tried to scream
But could not find my voice.
I awoke in a cold sweat
In my terror I had rent
The curtains from their place
Where the shadows
Had played upon the wall
There was nothing there at all.
The moon was so big last night
It came into my room
